The Role of the Rabbi

Introduction

Make a list of the qualities and skills needed to be a teacher. Introduce rabbi as term meaning ‘teacher’. Use Google image search to find images of rabbis, both male and female.

Main Activity

In groups, read sections of ‘A Day in the Life of a Rabbi’. Respond to the text by recounting the rabbi’s day through a series of frozen images, writing a job description for a rabbi or interviewing a candidate for the job of a rabbi.

Extension

Invite a rabbi to visit the school.
