Great with child, and great with his greatness bestowed on me, his lowly servant, I sing with all my heart the greatness of my Saviour God. Till the end of time people will honour me for the mighty deed which the Mighty One has done in me. Mighty he is, and holy, faithful from generation to generation to those with faith in him. He has put forth his power to blow away the people who think they matter; he has knocked rulers down from their thrones and brought simple folk right to the top. He feeds the hungry on the fat of the land, and sends the rich away with empty bellies. He has kept his promises to our ancestors - that he would come to the rescue of his servants the Jews. He has kept faith, across the centuries, with Abraham and all his children.
