Shrove Tuesday is the day just before the start of Lent. Traditionally Lent included a period of fasting. Before fasting began all the fat that was kept in the home needed to be used. People prepared and ate pancakes which used ingredients that they would not use during Lent.

ACTIVITY ONE

What is it important that we do not give up during Lent in order to stay healthy?

Do you know why?

ACTIVITY TWO

'Giving up' something for Lent can help you feel a better person; there are some things we should be doing all the time, not just at Lent.

For the Christian the world is God's creation and we should be caring for it.

Can you compare the problems of living in a very poor society with the living standards for most people in this country?
