We do not need to know long and fancy words to speak to God... or to listen to God speaking to us! At Lent many Christians try and make an effort to spend more time praying, reading the Bible and spending more time with God.

ACTIVITY ONE

Think about the time of Lent and its meaning and write your own prayer for Lent.

Think about how you might use it, or when you could say it.
ACTIVITY TWO

Plan an assembly on the subject of Lent.
You will need to think about:
  • what Lent is about / what Jesus did;
  • choosing a reading from the Bible, music and planning a prayer or how to get people to think about Lent and what they might be doing;
  • making it interesting;
  • fitting all that in about 5 to 10 minutes!

Websites to look at:

Search the allRE curriculum index on www.REonline.org.uk - select Christianity, and use the seach term 'lent'. Meditations and Prayers for Lent and Easter and The Easter Page are both useful.
By looking at the Lent section of The Easter Page and following links to the 'Lenten Reading Series' and 'Lenten Devotional Web Page', examples of prayers and readings relating to Lent will be found.
