Good Friday

Good Friday is the day when Jesus was crucified. Many Christians fast on this day. There is also a tradition of eating 'hot cross buns', which have a pastry cross reminding us of the cross that Jesus was killed on.

ACTIVITY ONE

Good Friday is not only about the horrible death of Jesus - it is also about the totally unselfish love of God.

Look at The Stations of the Cross in Jerusalem website.
This tells the story of the death of Jesus - it is called the 'Stations of the Cross'.
You might make your own series of pictures - or work in a group to produce a series of pictures which could be used in your classroom or at school in the last week of term before Easter.
You could put beside those pictures examples of how you may be cared for and loved.
ACTIVITY TWO

The Stations of the Cross could be portrayed as drama or in art form with a narrator and used in school as a series of presentations over a number of days.
The Stations of the Cross in Jerusalem
and Following Jesus at The Stations of the Cross are two websites which could provide you with ideas of how to do this.
You could set this in modern times - and perhaps use examples from the news to illustrate how there is still a need for the sacrifice of Jesus today.

Websites to look at:
