Why do you think Herod was angry at the birth of Jesus?

You can look at When Magi Camped In Bethlehem - a story for Epiphany based on these passages.

Perhaps with a group of friends you might also look at the following verses - Matthew 12. 9-14; 22.15-22 and 23-33.
Why do you think people were so upset by what Jesus was doing?

ACTIVITY TWO

What evidence can you find in the Bible that there were signs of Jesus being a special person even at his birth?
Have a look at the following to get started: Luke 1. 26-37; 2. 8-20 and 25-38.

Research the meaning of the word Messiah.
What sort of Messiah were the Jews waiting for at the time of Jesus?
What do the following tell you about the leadership Jesus was giving his friends - Mark 4. 26-29; 8. 17-21; 9. 30-37.
